QUESTIONS

What is Wheresat?
Wheresat is a daily geography guessing game played from satellite imagery. You name five recognisable Places from overhead, each from four Options, and every Round ends with a sourced Fact about the Place.
Is it free? Do I need an account?
It is free, with no account and no sign-up. Your Streak and Your log are saved in your browser.
When does the Daily change?
The Daily changes at midnight in your own timezone. Everyone plays the same five Places on the same date.
How does scoring work?
A correct Guess earns 5,000 points, 3,500 after one Hint and 2,000 after two. A wrong Guess earns none, so a perfect Game is 25,000.
Can I play more than once a day?
The Daily is once a day, and random Games are unlimited. Each random Game draws five Places from the whole collection.
How do I challenge a friend?
After a random Game, choose Challenge a friend to copy a link. Your friend plays the same five Places with the same Options, and Results compare your scores.
How is it different from GeoGuessr or Worldle?
Wheresat shows hand-picked, famous Places from above and offers four Options, so a Game takes a few minutes and needs no expertise. GeoGuessr drops you at street level and asks for a pin on the map; Worldle shows a country's outline. Wheresat also tells the story of every Place.
Where do the images and Facts come from?
The imagery is live satellite imagery from Mapbox and Maxar. Every Fact is checked by hand against its Source, which the Reveal links to.
Can I see past answers?
Past answers are listed in Past Dailies once a Daily has closed everywhere, two days after its date. Each Place has its own page with its story.
Does it work on a phone?
It works in any modern browser, on phone, tablet or desktop. There is nothing to install.
