PRIVACY
No accounts, and very little data.
Wheresat never asks for your name or email. This page lists everything it does keep, and who else sees what.
IN YOUR BROWSER
- Your Streak, Your log and the Places you've seen are saved in this browser's storage, not on our server. Clearing this site's data removes them.
- In a Party, your Nickname and your seat are saved in this browser, so you can rejoin after a refresh.
- Wheresat sets no cookies for players.
ON OUR SERVER
- Each Game you play: its Places, your Guesses, your Hints and your score. A Game isn't tied to a name or email, because Wheresat never asks for one.
- In a Party, the Nickname you type, which the other players in that Party see. Use a first name or a made-up one.
- Your IP address, held in memory for up to an hour to limit how often one address can start Games. It is never written to our database.
WHO ELSE SEES WHAT
- Mapbox serves the maps and satellite imagery. Your browser loads them straight from Mapbox, which sees your IP address and the area shown.
- Cloudflare carries all traffic to Wheresat and counts page views with Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and no fingerprinting.
- Sentry receives reports when something breaks. Wheresat removes cookies, headers and request contents before a report is sent.
- Railway hosts the server. Its request logs include IP addresses and are kept for a short time to run and protect the service.
CHILDREN
- Wheresat asks no one for personal information and isn't aimed at children under 13. In a Party, a first name or a made-up Nickname is all anyone needs.
